My career so far

I grew up bilingual and bicultural. I was born in Brazil and raised by German parents. In Brazil I got a Bachelor in Translation, and worked in the field for several years, yet my heart wasn’t in it. My soul longed for human connection and interaction. I have always been curious about the human condition, wondered why people do what they do.

Journey into Astrology

This led me to study astrology. My journey into astrology started in 1988, with a 2-year in depth course. Five years later I opened up shop and started providing astrological charts and forecast interpretations professionally. Additionally I offered foundational and advanced astrology classes and courses. I have attended many astrological workshops, classes and symposiums along the way and been a guest speaker in various events, as well as published a monthly horoscope column.

Path to Becoming a Psycotherapist

In my 30s I moved to the US and decided to pursue my dream and passion of becoming a psychotherapist. I went back to school and got a master’s degree in Organizational Counseling and a Post Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, becoming fully licensed in 2005.

I currently live in Germany, with my active duty husband and our cat. Our kids are grown and pursuing their own passions. Here in Germany I work as a Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC), providing counseling to service members and their families and providing counseling and astrology services virtually and in person to clients all over the world.

I have been doing this work since 2010 on military bases all around the world: US, Germany, Italy, Japan, to name a few.

In 2003, I founded Life Aspects, through my business I have offered personal counseling, crisis response interventions and psycho education in the form of workshops.

I have worked in a variety of settings: outpatient clinic, addictions center, group home for adults with chronic mental illness, EAP-Employee Assistance Program, Private Practice, and Crisis Incident Stress Management.

Training and Credentials

I have a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Translation and Interpretation German-Portuguese and a Teaching license, a master’s in organizational counseling, a Post master’s certificate in Clinical Counseling, and recently I finished the longest academic journey of my life, a PhD in Behavioral Health.

I am a Certified Employee Assistance Provider (CEAP), a licensed counselor in the states of Maryland and Texas and a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH).

I am a trained in Imago and Gottman couples’ counseling, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and ART-Accelerated Resolution Therapy -Trauma therapies, Neurolinguistic Programing (NLP) and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).

As a speaker I have worked as a faculty in the counseling master’s program at the Johns Hopkins University. As a workshop presenter I have delivered over 400 talks with topics varying from organizational issues to personal growth, in private and government settings, as well as providing professional development classes (CEU’s) for colleagues.
